Ambassador Hu Met with Honorable Girts Valdis Kristovskis,the New Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia

     On December 16, 2010, Mr. Hu yeshun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Latvia met with Honorable Girts Valdis Kristovskis, the New Foreign Minister of the Republic of Latvia.

Ambassador Hu conveyed first of all the warm congratulations from Mr. Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China to Mr. Kristovskis for taking up the new office as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia. Ambassador Hu said that the Sino-Latvian relations have been developing smoothly this year, the cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs has been increasingly close and the mechanism for exchange has been constantly optimized. All these have played a very important role in the healthy development of the bilateral relations. The Embassy of China in Latvia would like to make concerted efforts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia under the leadership of Mr. Kristovskis, to continuously push the bilateral relations to develop steadily forward. Mr. Kristovskis thanked Ambassador Hu for his efforts to promote the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the various fields since he took up his office in Latvia, and expressed his appreciation for the achievements of development in China, and said that the Latvian side attaches importance to her relations with China, wishes that the bilateral relations may enjoy excellent momentum of development, and looked forward to work together with the Chinese side to raise the bilateral relations to a new height by taking the advantage of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between Latvia and China next year. Both sides exchanged views extensively on the bilateral cooperation and exchanges for the year of 2011 and on some other issues of common interests.
