The Members of the Female's Group of the Embassy Visited the Children's Welfare Home at Irlava in Tukums

    Some members of the Female's Group of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Latvia recently paid a visit to the Bernu Nams, Children's Welfare Home at Irlava in Tukums, which is 70 km away from Riga. They presented clothes and toys etc. for the children as new year and Christmas gifts, prepared lunch, drew facial making-up, played games and fold paper cranes together with the children, who received concern and care from China for the first time. The Administrators of the Welfare Home shown the visiting members around the dormitory, recreation room and library etc. The Responsible of the Welfare Home expressed gratitude for the donation and the support for the course of charity of Latvia rendered by the Chinese Embassy.
   
      The Bernu Nams, Children's Welfare Home at Irlava in Tukums, established in the 1960s, is housing 48 children aged from 2 to 16 years old. Some of the children go to school in the neighborhood and the little kids are looked after by persons specially assigned for the job. Most of the Administrators are volunteers. The Welfare Home is currently financed and supported by the local Government, the public and the relevant charity organizations.
   
      Some of the female members from the Embassy of Japan, Netherlands etc. in Latvia also visited the Welfare Home.
